The Wedding Party

The Bridesmaids

Jamie-Lynn Crane – The Maid of Honour

Emily and Jamie met in grade 10 of high school, and have been best friends ever since! They love going out shopping, getting their nails done, and just sitting around talking about what is going on in each other’s lives. Although Emily has lived away from Guelph for the past seven years, their friendship has remained strong, and Emily always visits both her and her children Savannah and Emerson whenever she is home. Emily loves being ‘Auntie Em’!

Denise Henderson

Denise is Emily’s oldest cousin on the Henderson side of her family. Emily started visiting Denise when she was seven years old, spending a few days every March Break and summer with her, going shopping, travelling to Toronto, or just hanging around Hamilton! As Emily got older, they continued making time for their summer visits, and remain really close to this day. Emily is so thankful to have Denise as her cousin and bridesmaid!

Alex Lawson

Emily officially met Alex during their second year at Trent University, as they were in the same Indigenous theatre course. In their third year, Alex ended up living in the apartment above Emily’s, and that in combination with both being in the Concurrent Education program, and taking Indigenous studies courses, meant that they quickly became friends. Emily and Alex both had a very similar perspective on the undergraduate education courses, and therefore, decided to live together during their Bachelor of Education year at Queen’s University.

Julia Wilkie

Kyle works with Julia at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, and when Emily moved to Winnipeg in August of 2017 Kyle introduced them. At the time, Julia was also a student at the University of Manitoba, and therefore was able to help Emily transition to her new school. When Emily told Julia that she and Kyle were engaged she was thrilled and has since been both dress and ring shopping with Emily. Julia has been extremely supportive in all wedding planning and can’t wait for the big day!

Luella Hillman – Junior Bridesmaid

Luella is Denise’s daughter, and Emily first met her one month after she was born in October of 2009. Being so close with Denise, it was only natural for Emily to be close with Luella too, as her summer visits now included visiting both of them! Emily has a number of favourite memories with Luella, including holding her for the first time, roller blading at the Hamilton harbour, and tubing together behind Denise’s boat. Emily looks forward to many more summer visits with both Denise and Luella in the years to come!

The Groomsmen

Mike Boehm – The Best Man

Kyle and Mike have been best friends for 16 years! They share a love of being outdoors and travelling, especially when they can do it together. Even though they have lived far apart for the last seven years, they are eerily similar, in fashion, interests and mannerisms. They look forward to adventures, now that they live within driving distance of another other.

Tristan Banton-Jones

Tristan is Kyle’s younger brother and with less than a two year age gap between them, growing up they did just about everything together. From building forts out of hay bales on their farm, to learning how to snowboard and ride bikes together, Tristan has been a constant companion throughout Kyle’s life. Despite going to university three hours apart and currently living in different provinces, they text just about every day, becoming even closer over the years.

Caleb Bishop

Kyle met Caleb during the first week of high school and quickly became great friends with him. From grade 9 science to grade 12 math, their teachers were constantly trying to get them to stop goofing off in class, but to no avail. Kyle and Caleb would spend countless hours on the weekends and during the summers going on fishing trips in Kyle’s dinky paddle boat and despite being the worst fishermen around, they would just enjoy each other’s company. They look forward to many more fishing trips (hopefully in a real boat this time) and having cold beers together in the future.

Michel Bedard

Kyle and Michel met at the gym during their third year at Trent University. After an endless number of workouts, they decided to move in together, and have spent many hours getting gains and playing video games. Since Trent, they talk multiple times a week while playing Fortnight or COD, and Kyle was Michel’s best man at his wedding in 2018. With plans on living in the same area, they hope to go hiking, camping and hunting in the years to come.
